Happy Birthday!
Wouldn't the world be a better place if everyone pledged to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent? In the past 100 years since the Boy Scouts of America was founded, over 112 million boys have raised their right hand to live up to those homespun standards and uphold the Scout Law, earning merit badges and volunteering for service projects ranging from food collection to conservation. They learn as youth that our world is as strong as we make it.
We have kicked off our 100th Anniversary with our service project, “Scouting for Change” and we are preparing for the celebration event, “The Central Florida Scout Show” in a few weeks. Scouting for Change has been rewarded us in unexpected ways. We have been able to increase our exposure in the community with billboards, commercials and to see our Scouts from 609 Units embracing the service project collecting nearly $50,000 in change with more still coming in. Special thanks to all for supporting this worldly service project and our community partners: Regions Bank who took in nearly 200,000 quarters and loose change throughout the 2 month campaign, Clear Channel Outdoors, STAR 94.5FM, Full Sail University, Bright House Networks and Technetium Advertising and Web Design. If you want to give your 20 quarters, we are still accepting donations online at www.scoutingforchange.com.
The Central Florida Scout Show is approaching quickly! Make sure May 1st is on your calendar to join us. Friday night we will have an entertaining evening for our Scouts including a movie inside Bright House Networks Stadium and campout around the stadium afterwards. On Saturday May 1s,t we’ll have Scouts from around Central Florida enjoying hundreds of interactive booths. Invite your neighbors, friends, family, and co-workers to join us as well! As our founder Lord Baden Powell said the most worth-while thing is to try to put happiness in the lives of others. Thanks to all of our leaders for your service to our youth that scouting will give them such a positive experience
God bless you!
