Greetings to Lake District Scouters!

Are you ready to rock and roll? We’ve got a great year full of fun and fabulous scouting activities, so hang on to your hats.

Fall Recruitment
We’ve already started our recruitment for the fall. If you have a boy in 1st throught 5th grade, or at least 7 years of age, its time to join scouting. For information on the closest sign-up near you, email Jason.setser@cflscouting.org

Popcorn
The biggest fundraiser of the year is upon us. Buy POPCORN. More value…better flavor…better prizes for the kids. We make it easy to buy popcorn. You can even go online and buy it in the name of a scout near you. You can even send popcorn to the troops! For more info, email Lake Popcorn Kernel, Loni Patterson: dixiemudbear@embarqmail.com

Camping Camping Camping!
We got two big Lake campouts coming up at the beginning of October, our Cub Family Campout and the Lake Fall Camporee.
We will have our Cub Campout at Rybolt/Camp LaNoChe October 1-3. The whole family is invited. Cost is $10. Bring your own food. NO ALCOHOL. For more info, email Marilyn Shaw: scout143@gmail.com

The Fall Camporee will be held at Lake Yale Conference Center October 8-10. We’ll have plenty of competitions on Land and Sea. Our host troop is Troop 143 out of Fruitland Park. For more information, you can email Rob Parish, Camporee Chief: rparish@fruitlandpark.org

Scouting for Food
In November, the Central Florida Council will begin their 14th year of participation in the Scouting for Food effort. This year, we’ve partnered with the United Way and their Human Care Network of food pantries. We will be directly donating food to over 12 pantries across Lake District. Its an effort to make it a bit easier for a packs and troops to collect and drop off their food and for the pantries’ clients so that they don’t have to travel so far for assistance.

New Packs!
Please welcome three new packs to Lake District: Pack 218 at St. James Espiscopal Church in Leesburg, Pack 238 at the Midway Baptist Church in Leesburg and Pack 258 at The Father’s House in Leesburg. As new packs, they are looking for all the help they can get. If you would like to be a FOUNDING MEMBER  of these packs by volunteering to help, please email Jason.setser@cflscouting.org

If you have anything else to add or perhaps a picture to send us, please email them to Jason.setser@cflscouting.org

Happy Scouting!
