Last year over 11,000 Scouts participated in the Central Florida Camp Cards Campaign leading in to the Scout Show.

500 Scouts and Leaders from over 20 Packs and Troops marched in the 34th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade, in Downtown Orlando.  The theme was "A Day On, Not a Day Off."  The parade began at 10 a.m. on Orange Avenue in Downtown Orlando.  Scouts handed out information on joining Scouting as well as the traditional parade candy.

The District Award of Merit is a council award presented by districts in the same manner that the Silver Beaver is a national award presented by councils.

Established in 1931, the Silver Beaver Award is presented for distinguished service to  young people within a BSA local council.
